The tunas are here, the tunas are here.
Today went off! All the boats had good catches of yellow fin tuna. They ranged from 25-70 lbs with a good showing of 50-60 lb class fish. We'll post pictures tomorrow or look at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center website for latest pictures from the whole fleet.
Weather looks good, we still have one day left open next week!!

GAFFER MAYHEM! ! !
The fishing has been great the past four days . The tunas have been a bit hit and miss. Good one day then slower the next. The big gaffer dolphin fishing has been rocking! A few blue marlins and sailfish mixed in. A mako or two and a white marlin were also encountered by the fleet today.

It's getting hot out there. . .
In the past week the weather has beat us a few days but the days we've gotten out fishing we've had great mixed bag fishing. We had good catches of dolphin last week and two days the wahoos showed up in force. There was also a good sign of tunas. Though not everyday, but still on the days we caught them they were nice 40- 60 lb fish. The High Return also released our first billfish of the season, a sailfish. Amongst other boats in the fleet there were a couple of bigeye tuna, a few sailfish and blue marlin and plenty of dolphin, tuna and wahoo.
The fishing is heating up, the dolphin are really showing up good. If the gulf stream continues to bring it's fertile waters close to our fishing grounds we should really see some of our most exiting fishing in the coming weeks. Come on down and see us!

You should have been here yesterday . . .

We had an absolutely awesome day of fishing on Saturday. Multiple hookups on 45-50lb yellowfin tuna, Attacks by small packs of gaffer dolphin, two mako shark bites and a double header of sailfish.
The weather was great. The fishing was great. What more could a lucky group of fishermen hope for? These guys had been "blown out" by the weather for three trips in a row. They kept the faith and kept re-booking their trip. And finally it paid off big.
The spring fishing is really shaping up. But the wind is blowing today and is going to for a couple more days. Fishing has been really good to the south of us. Our tuna fishing has been overall good but with a few slow days around the full moon. The gulf stream is in position over the bottom where we typically fish. EVERYTHING IS IN POSITION. Oregon Inlet bluewater fishing should GO OFF in the next 45 days. Tunas, Billfish, Dolphin and Wahoo will be hitting the baits and the docks. Come on down and try your luck.

Spring fishing heating up.
We haven't made it out since Sunday. The fishing was a little slow over the weekend but heated up on Monday. Several boats caught 10-15 tunas and there were some pretty good catches of dolphins too. Tuesday was also good but only a handful of boats fished. They had great weather and good fishing. Wednesday the tuna fishing heated up on the southern end. Boats fishing southeast of Diamond Shoals Tower brought back nice catches of yellowfins. Dolphins and and a few wahoos also challenged anglers. There have been some billfish encounters this past week as well.
We still haven't seen the big push of gaffer Dolphins we often see this time of year. The Gulf Stream has been pushing lots of warm blue water our way. The fish and sargassum and red hot summer fishing isn't far off. Come see us! ! !
