Fishing turned rescue!
October 30, 2005
Fishing was phenominal for the fleet, however, we caught NOTHING!
Why? Well, we made our trip to the stream, but as we got close at 8:30AM, the Wave Runner lost it's rudder and started taking on water. High Return was the closest boat to the WR. There was an aircraft carrier near, pictures to be posted soon. Regardless, seas were 5 foot, and stern to stern was impossible, so we threw the life ring and dragged the hapless fishermen to High Return. Coast Guard showed up in 40 minutes and brought gas powered pumps to bilge out the Wave Runner. She made it in under her own power, but will certainly take some significant upfitting to become seaworthy once again. Kudos to Capt Dave and Mate Graham for giving a neighborly helping hand to a friend at sea. I bet the fisherman, both our charter and the Wave Runner charter will remember today much more than if they had actually caught 600 Lbs. of Tuna, What do you bet?
